Not sure how to file this year since 2020 is still not resolved
So, I filed early in 2020, got my refund. But, had unemployment of around $6K. Once the law changed, IRS was supposed to send additional refund automatically. As of today, that still hasn't happened, even though I'm a single filer using the standard deduction. Also, removing that unemployment amount from my taxes would have made me eligible for the 3rd stimulus payment. So, guess my questions are: what do I show as my AGI from last year on this year's return? If I take off the unemployment amount, it won't match what was on my 2020 return. Also, can I go ahead and claim the stimulus $$ if the IRS has not yet adjusted my income to eliminate the unemployment amount? I don't want to go to IRS purgatory. 🙂
