-W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return.  Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond.  Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.

Thanks, but i am aware I cannot get this deduction on my federal return.  Last year I was able to declare these expenses and they were reflected in my NY State return.  I am having trouble this year in finding where I need to declare, specifically where i declare expenses related to my working from my home office.

You have to enter them in the federal software and let the information flow to the state return.

Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Employment Expenses>Job-Related Expenses
