  1. im having the same problem...and turbo tax says contact irs...and  and turbo tax thinks their going to get paid for their services??? what services irs cant locate my taxes... im so mad at their incompetence...ill never use turbo tax again

Why is it impossible to get a phone number for a person??? On here, on the irs site... Am I wrong to think that If you have a job done from finish to end you get pd... If the job gets half ass done, you don't pay till it's done, right? So turbo tax keeps trying to pull money from my account while at the exact same time the irs is saying they can't locate my taxes... That I filed on 3/8/2021... 😳 Seriously.. I'm not paying for crap service that no one will help me with or follow through...no way am I paying more money to talk to a turbo tax personal...horrible... If anybody was wondering the irs site it's.gov has free tax filing program for those filing simple ez forms... No need to ever use turbo tax

If you used a paid edition of TurboTax (PLUS or higher), you do not have to pay for Customer Support.   The FAQ linked below has a phone number for Customer Support you should be able to use.

 

I'll assume you used a paid edition since you said "TurboTax keeps trying to pull money from my account."  If you used a paid edition, did you choose to pay the fees out of your Federal refund?   If so, and if your Federal refund has been delayed by the IRS, that's why TurboTax would want to be paid.  The FAQ below explains that process, and also tells how you can ask for a deferment.  There is a phone number in the first paragraph of the FAQ:

If an auto-debit from TurboTax caused a NSF fee (non-sufficient funds), you have some recourse in regards to the NSF fees.

 

I'll assume you efiled the return, but you haven't mentioned outright if the efile was initially accepted soon after it was efiled.  If TurboTax is auto-debiting your bank account after an IRS delay of several weeks, then that would imply that the efiled return was indeed accepted back in March to begin processing at the IRS.  You can also double-check that it was initially accepted by checking the efile status at the Tax Home of your Online TurboTax account.

Did you actually speak to the IRS?  Was it a live IRS agent that told you that, or are you referring to the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?  It's not uncommon for the IRS tool not to locate someone's return.   That's been a common problem this year since the IRS is having to manually process a lot of returns, which causes long delays and can provide gaps in the WMR tool.   Did it find your return previously back in March, but it isn't finding it now, or has it never found it at all?  

 

Here are some tips when using the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool:

  • Be sure you enter the correct SSN and filing status.
  • Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen.  
  • Also be sure you are using the Federal amount before any TurboTax fees are taken out (if you chose that option.)
  • Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.
  • You can also try phoning the IRS refund hotline.  I've seen it work for some users when the WMR tool didn't.  800-829-1954

 

Otherwise, here's you how you can try to speak to the IRS to inquire about the delays (they are not easy to reach), and I'll also tell you below how to try to get help from the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service if necessary.

 

IRS:  800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

 

When calling the IRS do not choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

  • First choose your language.  Then listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • Then press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".  
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions." 
  • It may then ask for your SSN, but do not enter it.  Just wait.    If it asks for SSN a second time, still do not enter it.
  • Then it will get "tired", and you'll get another menu.  Choose 2 for "personal".
  • Then in the next menu choose 4 for "all other inquiries", and it should transfer you to an agent but expect a long wait.
  • I usually use a speakerphone so I can work on something else while waiting.

If you have no luck reaching the IRS or can't get good info, you can try contacting the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service for your area.    They are especially prone to help if you have an economic hardship, or if there have been continued delays with lack of info from the IRS.    At the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it will give you the number of your IRS Taxpayer Advocate.    If the Taxpayer Advocate can't/won't help you, ask them to transfer you to an an IRS agent.  A couple of users reported that at least for them, that was a backdoor route to the IRS.
