My data from TurboTax 2021 Home and Business will not upload into my TurboTax Delux 2022, Why?

I am beginning my 2022 tax forms.  It normally autofills information from the prior year.  This time it won't.  Why?

Is the 2021 .taxfile on the same drive as the 2022 program ?

2021.txt is on my icloud drive.  Where should it be and how do I get it to the correct location?

Your guess is as good as mine ... can you not download it back to the hard drive ?  And you need the .tax2021 file  not the .txt file.

Are you on Windows or Mac?   You need the actual tax file ending in .tax2021 to transfer.  It should be in your Documents then in a Turbo Tax folder or search your whole computer (and backups) for all files ending in .tax or .tax2021.

Here's an idea. Do you still have 2021 installed? Try opening 2021 program and see if you can get your 2021 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. And see if that is the right one.

In the 2021 program do a File-Save AS and give it a easy name you can find or search for. And note where it saves it or select where to save it so you can find it again. The file will end in .tax2021. Then close the 2021 program. Then start a new 2022 return and transfer from the 2021 file.
