Just so you know, you cannot claim the earned income credit if you are married filing separate. However, some states may allow a version of the credit if both taxpayer's income is at a certain level. If you cannot enter the accurate amount for his income, your state return will either be rejected or the refund amount adjusted. Entering zero will not help, unless his AGI was zero.

I am filing separately this year but filed jointly last year. I put my adjusted gross income # BOX 11 when promoted and then it took me worksheet, it had populated a # for me but not for my husband. Do I put the same # that it put for me?
A joint filing means you should each have the same AGI on IRS tax records for last year so enter the same for him.
