I accidentally put the IRA income that should be on 15b into 16b (pensions) on a 2017 return. I'm hoping they'll just fix it. The income is correct, just wrong line. Please advise.

I would not worry about that. Putting the 1099-R on the wrong line is no big deal. As you said, the correct amount of income tax has been paid. If you had filed your 2017 timely, in 2018, the 3 year statute of limitation has already passed. The IRS rarely opens a case after 3 years unless they suspect fraud was involved.
Since 2017 is old it may not matter. For current years, if you put it on the wrong line the IRS won't see it and say you didn't report it and send you a bill for tax.
Unfortunately it is just being filed now, mailed paper return. It is for my Mom, she didn't file and I am trying to fix things.
