I have Premier (Federal+State) and the I am trying to download State form the only way to do is to pay $40!!! I need only one state..
I am a long time user of Turbotax (over 10 years) and never had any issues.
Overall impression of this new SW version is so-so because it is not as user friendly as prior versions.

I don't know why it's trying to charge you for your included state program download. I don't know if you are using Windows or Mac. In any case, first I'd run a "check for updates" to be sure you have the latest program updates. Then exit TurboTax and reboot your computer. Then re-launch TurboTax and try to get the state download.
If that was unsuccessful, and if you are using Windows, if you wish to do so, you can get a full manual update and run it.

If it still tries to charge you for the included state program, please phone Customer Support, and they can either help you fix it or can place a state software download in your account.

Thank you for the suggestion. It is iMac desktop latest version. I spoke with tech support and they can't help!!!
Very strange situation.
I even reinstalled entire package, still can't add my state..
The overall behavior of the SW changed from years past and it is not as intuitive as it was. I am over 10 years veteran of using Turbotax and really disappointed with current expirience.
Sorry you're still having trouble and that Support couldn't help you. Were they unable to place a standalone state software download into your account?
