Thanks. Does Turbo Tax offer the option to pay as I'm finishing up my filing? It's confusing that it would file and take my financial information but not offer me the option to pay - in a way that's easy to find.
For the fees? Yes you can file before March 1 before the early prices expire. Or you can pay the fees early to lock in a lower price. The early prices have been expiring on March 1.
For tax due. You can enter your bank info for the IRS to pull it out or say you will mail a check or pay by credit card. Then you can go online and pay the IRS or state directly on their website. Go through the File tab and you can pay the tax due.
@fanfare This unfortunately caused me a bunch of problems. I went to the IRS website and made a partial payment, since you said I would incur a penalty if I didn't pay that very day. The following day, I found out that TurboTax will be paying my tax owed - although this information does not show up anywhere on my TurboTax Home page, etc. I contacted my bank to try to stop the payment I made after your post but it was too late. Yesterday, I spent 6 hours on hold with the IRS to make sure that they won't be taking the full amount originally owed - in addition with what I paid, it'd be almost $4,000. I wasn't able to get through so I'll have to try again today.
The only place that indicated that TurboTax will be making a payment for me is on my irs.gov home page. It would be EXTREMELY helpful to have this info on my TurboTax home page.
The IRS took both the TurboTax payment and my IRS.gov payment, so I'm out $1,400 until the IRS issues a refund for my overpayment (up to 21 days).
