The IRS adjusted my tax return because of a computed amount due on Schedule SE. The IRS adjustment was for Social Security tax that I was already paid as part of my normal income. I believe that because Turbo Tax left Schedule SE line 9 blank, the IRS computer didn't take into account the amount of Social Security taxes already paid and made that adjustment to my return. Now I have to appeal the adjustment to the IRS. Come on Turbo Tax, when in doubt fill in the blank.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Ok ... you are confused. They did not adjust SE taxes on your W-2 income ... that cannot happen. But I bet you had a 1099-NEC for more than $400 that you did not report on the Sch C which is where they expected it and skipped paying SE taxes on the income so they corrected it for you and sent you a bill. So look at your return ... did that income end up on the Sch 1 or Sch C ?

Did you get a Schedule SE? How much is on lines 8? Are you married? If you both had W2s you might have entered them all for the same person and together they went over the max wages. So no Social Security was calculated. The max for Social Security is for each spouse separately. Check your W2s and see if they are each assigned to the right person.
Did you have amounts on lines 6, 11 & 12?
