If you are getting a request to review the entry on your Form 1099-DIV that you imported, you can delete it and re-enter it manually to clear that message.

If you are using TurboTax Online you can delete a Form 1099-DIV as follows:

  1. In your left panel of your TurboTax screen click on "Tax Tools"
  2. And then Click on "Tools"
  3. Click on "Delete a Form"
  4. Scroll through your list of Forms
  5. Click the garbage can next to "Form 1099-DIV"

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can delete a Form 1099-DIV as follows:

  1. Click on "Forms" in the upper right of your TurboTax screen to switch to "Forms Mode"
  2. In your left panel scroll down and look for "Form 1099-DIV"
  3. In your right panel at the bottom of Form 1099-DIV, click on "Delete Form"
  4. Click on "Yes" to confirm the deletion.

You can easily get back to the TurboTax screen where you will re-enter your Form 1099-G as follows:

  1. Click on "Search" at the top right of your TurboTax screen.
  2. Type "Form 1099-DIV" in the search box.
  3. Click on the link "Jump to Form 1099-DIV"
  4. Your screen will say, "Let's finish pulling your investment income"
  5. Select Add investments
  6. Select Skip Import and Continue
  7. Click on the box that says Dividends, (it will turn green) and select Continue
  8. Enter your Form 1099-DIV information and answer all of the follow-up questions

The response that you provided is a work around, suggesting to delete the entry and enter it manually. The basic problem is the import is not working properly. The message after importing the 1099s stated it was downloaded correctly and when viewing import summary, it shows $'s values entered for the multiple 1099's. Then, when clicking on Interest Income, it shows that the specific institution that was downloaded has zero $0's and asking for a value. I view this  is a basic problem with the software -  Imports not working properly with a direct conflict in information. Please explain the source of this problem and how to proceed with using the imports working properly.

Helpful TurboTax Articles:

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.

To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:

  1. Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
  2. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
  3. Toggle the switch to ON.
  4. Refresh the page and attempt your import again.

What do I do when my data isn't imported into TurboTax Desktop even though it says successful import...

If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:

  • Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
  • Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
  • Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.
