Will my boyfriend get more money back if he claims me and our son as a dependent ?

I only worked 1 month of 2016 and made like 400 dollars maybe I'm wondering if my boyfriend can claim me and our son on his tax as he supported us pretty much the whole year and will he get more money back if he does claim me as a dependent ? Or if he just claims my son will it make a difference if he claims me to ??

Yes, he will get more back. However, different rules apply to your son than they do to you. Your son will qualify as a dependent, as long as he meets all the requirements of a qualifying child. These requirements are listed at the IRS website below.

Since you're an unrelated adult, you will qualify as a dependent as long as you meet all the requirements of a qualifying relative. These requirements are listed at the IRS website below.

Im confused Step 6  says if another person provided more than half the person's total support u can't get a exemption and then step 7 says if 2 or more people together didn't support the person u can't claim as a dependent that confusing me
