If you have not already e-filed to change your filing status in TurboTax Online:
1. Go to "Personal Info" at the top of the page
2. Select "Edit" next to marital status and you can change from single to head of household.
Unfortunately if you have already e-filed your return, once you transmit your return you cannot change it or get it back. You would have to wait until your return gets rejected or accepted. If rejected, you can make your changes or add information to your return. If accepted, you would need to amend your return to correct or add information to your return.
If you need to amend your return and you're amending to claim more money, the IRS says to wait until you've received your original refund before filing an amendment. Once you've received your original refund, feel free to cash or spend it while your amendment gets processed (this can take 12–16 weeks). 3 weeks after you mailed your amendment, you can start tracking its progress at the IRS Where's My Amended Return? site.

You can still go back and file an amended return if you have already filed.
I'm looking for my refund. I accidentally claimed single instead of head of household. Turbo tax took money for refund issued debit card.
If you have already filed, you will need to amend your return to change your filing status.
You will need to wait until the IRS has accepted your original return before filing the amendment. If you are to receive a refund, wait until you receive it before filing the amended return. If you owed the IRS money, then wait for your payment to clear.
For TurboTax Online, simply login to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.” If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.
You can change your filing status under My Info.
You can find out more about amending a return here.
@Kim43
Can it be amended?
Yes.
You can amend your return to correct your filing status.
See the attached link for instructions to help you amend your return.
What if it's been accepted but hasn't been approved yet?
You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner. The IRS does not allow you to take it back.
If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.” The changes will go nowhere.
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.
If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund. THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally. You will need to use a form called a 1040X.
Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself. Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed
The Form 1040X you need became available in late February, But wait until your return has been processed.
Am I Head of Household?

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.
