If I claim my boyfriend, who owes child support, will the state keep my taxes?

My boyfriend has been living with me all year and has been unemployed all but one month of the year.  He owes child support.  If I claim him, will the state keep my taxes?

Your refund can not be intercepted for a debt owed by someone else you claim as a dependent.

My husband became disabled and couldn't pay his child support and they took my tax return to pay it up.

That is because you are married.  The original question was about claiming a boyfriend as a dependent.  They can’t take your return if a dependent owes something.  Did you file an injured spouse form to protect your refund?  You can file it now for a prior year.

No never filed injured spouse form didn't know it was a thing.  He's battling disability right now with a lawyer, had his hearing haven't heard anything yet.
