Customer Service refused to help. They said this was charged by IRS and I can put a public post on the TurboTax Facebook account. Really, are you kidding me? Here is the bottom line. Turbo has a responsibility to tell people that if they choose the credit card option there is an additional fee. Whether it is charged by them or the IRS is inmaterial. The fact that you take no responsibility to notify your customers of this additional charge, is infuriating. All you need to do is put a message there and make people click ok that they read it or let them choose another payment option. I have been a Turbo customer for 20 some years. Never again.
I feel like there’s an ongoing lawsuit for this right now and that TurboTax is having to pay back the people that they charged without telling them. I don’t remember where I heard it but now I’m gonna go check my email.
IRS doesn't charge you to pay by credit card.
The Payment Processor that works with IRS charges a fee.
That is disclosed to you when you click that option.
This is intended for persons like you who want that convenience.
@Blake6476 Are you referring to the class action lawsuit for paying Turbo Tax fees when you qualified to use the Free Edition? See this post
Just got hit with same surprise charge (mine was $40). VERY shady as there was no popup or note that payment by card would carry any extra fee.
In my case, thought “Hey cool, I’ll pay by card and get my points!” Imagine my surprise when I saw the extra… Very disappointed with Turbotax for not even making an attempt to clearly disclose the possibility of an extra fee when making the choice of credit card payment! They certainly do if you try to pay their fee with any refund you have coming…
I have done annual taxes for myself and family members using Turbotax for many years. Going elsewhere next year for our tax preparation needs…
This is bullcrap! I NEVER saw anywhere, when I choose to pay by credit card, that I was going to pay a "VPS Service Fee"! ($70) in my case! I'm done with Intuit & Turbo Tax!!!
