You need to do an amended 2024 return showing the correct 2024 data and an explanation that the previous return had incorrect data.
Oh no. So you used the current online program and entered 2023 income by mistake? That return was accepted? Well, you have to wait for the IRS to process it and then you will have to amend it by removing that 2023 income and replace it with 2024 income. The online program is only for 2024 returns--- no other year. But now you cannot use online for a new 2024 return, so you have to wait and amend----Do not try to make changes to the return you e-filed while the IRS is still processing. It is possible that the IRS will catch the mistake----amending too soon could cause confusion and long delays.
Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend. (If you do not save it as a pdf, the amended return will overwrite the original, and the original will be lost forever)
See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return -
CURRENT YEAR
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
You can watch for information here:

If you actually need to file a 2023 return correctly--here is how to do that:
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2024 only. Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and 2023 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
I don't know how this happened but when I did my 2023 taxes it actually went towards 2024. How to I correct this?
@Melgriffith Please explain-----did you use the current online program and enter 2023 income instead of your 2024 income? Were you trying to prepare a 2023 return? Did you e-file? Was the e-file accepted or rejected?
