I sold 39 espp stock, proceeds is 8100, adjusted cost basic is 7937, and ordinary income reported is 794, adjust gain is 163. Where to put the number 794 that is paid?

I think even I earn 163, but I already paid tax for 794. So the number 794 need to be input somewhere. I can't find the box for it. Thanks.

Normally, the ordinary income portion is reported on your W-2 form, included in the line 1 entry. If not, you should see an option to indicate that in the section where you entered the ESPP sale.

As a last resort, you can report the ordinary income portion of your ESPP sales by using the following menu tabs in TurboTax:

  1. Wages and expenses
  2. Less common income
  3. Miscellaneous income
  4. Other income not already reported on a form W-2 or form 1099

Indicate that you received other wages and work through that section until you come to an option Employee compensation that was not reported on a W-2. Check that box and enter the information requested regarding the name of your employer, EIN and check the reason code I received a form W-2 and the income should have been reported on the form W-2. Enter the ordinary income component there.

I need to use "Amount of adjustment" as negative number to reduce the "proceeds". the amount is what I already paid tax with ordinary income. I also filed tax with turbo tax last year. I can see the "amount of adjustment" for my last year's report. I don't know where to put the "amount of adjustment" when I fill my 1099b this year.. My W2 do show the ordinary income paid.

I have two options:

1. manually enter smaller proceeds amount

2. increase my cost basis

But I think both are not clear. It should be amount of adjustment as negative. right?

Thanks.
