If you’re checking for the direct-debit transaction in your online account (with your bank), that’s the way to do it. (After your return is accepted, the IRS and states don’t share any behind-the-scenes info with our company.) If it hasn’t happened yet, that’s not extremely unusual, however. They sometimes do it a little later, especially if their system hasn’t completely processed your return yet.
You can verify the payment info you submitted through TurboTax, if you’re concerned about that. It’s on the “Filing Instructions” page at the beginning of your return (as discussed in this older but still accurate thread), and in Part V of your federal and state “Information Worksheets” (which come after the main forms in each of those returns).
Note that if you haven’t printed or saved a pdf copy, you have to use the “Add a State” link (at the Tax Home after signing in, even though you’re not actually adding a state...) to get back into the return and access the Print Center. Of course, if you’re using the desktop (downloadable) version of TurboTax, you can just go to “Forms Mode.”
@jwruacf, if you scheduled it for before the deadline, you’re fine (as long as you don’t spend all the money in the meantime, of course!). Be sure to re-post if you have further questions!
