I purchased the TurboTax DeLuxe with the license code. Why am I still paying $39 for the Federal e-filing? I never had to in the previous years.

You appear to be posting from online software instead of the desktop CD/download software that the license code is for.  If you are using online, you are using the wrong program.  You need to switch to the desktop software to get what you paid for.  You have to download it, update it and open it up from your own hard drive to use it.

We see people get confused and they keep logging in to online software which will require them to pay at the end.   You need to use the desktop software.   One way to tell if you are using the right software---your tool bar.   Online software has the toolbar in a black vertical column on the left side of the screen.   Desktop software has the tools up on the top of your TT screen.

Sorry you can't apply the Desktop CD/Download program and License Code to the Online version. They are separate prices and work different.

You need to install the program on your computer and move your online return to the Desktop program. You can download the .tax2022 data file without paying for Online and continue in the desktop version. First download the .tax2022 file from Online. How to Save the tax file

After you get the program reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN
