I assume that you received the initial error message about the spouse's SSN in your Federal or State Review.
Although it appears that you should be able to enter the SSN on that screen in the Review, in fact, you can't, because if you do, you'll just get another error message like you did.
Instead, go back to the screen in the federal interview (most likely in Personal Info or My Info) and enter the amount there, then go back to the Federal or State Review to see if that cleared the problem.
I am having the same problem, but I am stuck in a loop. The review of my District of Columbia state return says not to enter the information on the DC worksheet but to put it in on the Federal personal information worksheet. It is already filled out there. I delete it from the DC sheet and go back to the Federal personal information sheet to verify it's all there. Then the check says the values are missing from the DC worksheet and need to be entered. I enter them there, then get the first error again.
This does not fix it. Still stuck in an infinite loop.
I did ultimately solve this last year. I think what I had to do was delete the state return and start it over from scratch.
This worked for me too. Went back to Personal Info, refilled in the details, then went to the state return and redid it. Only took a few minutes, but my return finally went through.
