The e-file deadline was October 16th.
You will need to print and mail your return at this point.
Admittedly I'm not sure. But could be this.
But TTX may be shutting down "Online" for everyone tonight....even those who are left needing to paper-file (which may be what they are indicating.)
______
When they shut down TTX "Online" around this time every year, TTX Online is usually complete closed for everyone for a few weeks....and people can't even print out their forms until the next year's software (2023 in this case), starts up in late November. i.e. no editing, no downloading of the tax year PDF forms...nothing, until the next year's software is started up
Thanks for replying. I am just confused why TurboTax would send me an email on October 20, four days after the deadline passed, leading me to believe that I still had time to file online.
This is what they sent me: "
To ensure your filing experience is as smooth as possible, we want to inform you that you have until October 31, 2023, 9PM PST to e-file your 2022 return using TurboTax Online.
If you're one of the California residents* eligible for the additional extended deadline to November 16, 2023, and file after October 31, you will no longer be able to file using TurboTax Online, but you can still file using our TurboTax Desktop product by re-entering your information and uploading your forms."
That's what I think too. I would ignore that message and continue on and see if it lets you efile. According to this recent article if you started before Oct 16 it sounds like you can finish and efile until Oct. 31, 2023
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
