To complete and file a 2023 tax return using TurboTax you would have needed to use one of the 2023 desktop editions installed on a personal computer.

The TurboTax online editions are only for tax year 2024.  If you used the 2024 online editions to file a 2023 tax return, the the IRS will either rejected the return or they will be sending you a letter in the mail questioning the 2024 tax return that you filed.

If this is what you did then you will need to amend the 2024 tax return and enter the 2024 tax data.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-curr...

To complete and file a 2023 tax return using TurboTax you would need to purchase, download and install on a personal computer one of the 2023 desktop editions from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

A 2023 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.

You can't just make a change and make it be 2023.  You will need to use the 2023 program in order to file a 2023 return.  Tax laws change every year, so you need to use the correct program for the correct year to file for that year.

Your next steps depend on whether or not your return was accepted or rejected.

If your return is accepted by the IRS, you will need to Amend Your Return for 2024 and include the correct information on the 2024 return and then file the 2023 return using the 2023 downloaded program as you cannot use the online program to file a previous year return once the new tax year opens.

If the return is accepted, do not make any changes until the IRS fully processes your return as they may catch the error and send you a letter of correction.  If they do, and you agree with their changes do nothing.  If you disagree, then follow the instruction on the letter.

If the return is rejected, then you will just make the changes to the return and file it as appropriate.

Regardless of how 2024 is handled, you can take care of 2023 now using the 2023 download
