I have no penalty, but Turbotax filled out a form 2210, checked Box A and wrote in "85% waiver". I submitted the return, but it was rejected

This problem with Form 2210 for MAC users should be a high priorty for TurboTax and they are treated it like it is not really a problem. A simple program change should not take 2 weeks to complete. The idea that you would have to mail in your return after you purchase their product and spend the money is not acceptable. I guess they do not care since they already have our money. Unacceptable!!!  Please voice your disgust too.

mike.malek  I think the problem may have been on the IRS's end, and seems to have been fixed.  I used the download for Mac, and when I resubmitted my return on Sunday it went right through!  Have you tried yours again recently.  It may just work.

Olsengt, please explain what you did/did not include with your submission? You say your return was unchanged from the rejected one. Does that mean that you included form 2210 or were able to omit it? Did the request to attach the waiver explanation disappear? Did you try a workaround or just do your taxes normally? The only way I could delete the 2210 (on my Mac with CD Home and Biz version) was to  click the box "I had no tax liability in 2017."

Taxtony  I did no workaround.  My TurboTax file still contained Form 2210 with Part II Box A checked and with the Explanation Statement.  When I print the "Return Only," the first page of Form 2210 is included with the annotation "85% Waiver" typed next to the checked Box A, but no other pages are included, nor is the Explanation Statement, so I assume this is what TurboTax sends to the IRS.  (Note that, after digging through the IRS instructions for Form 2210, I concluded that this does appear to be the correct way to complete the form.)  I filed my return, and there was no longer any error from the IRS requesting I attach the waiver explanation or anything else.  Instead, it was accepted very quickly, so it looks like the problem has been fixed with no "fudging" of the TurboTax program required!

2210 was reqd w/my return.  Box A checked w/ waiver statement.  My rtn was rejected on 2/17 and again on 2/22.  After reading comments today (I have been checking daily) I decided to try again instead of waiting til the 3/8 update that had been mentioned.  I am using the online tt.  My return was accepted w/in the hour.

As a Mac user, I just want to express my frustration about this whole situation.  No late penalty due because of large Q1 est payment and a big refund coming and I can't efile my taxes!  Turbotax telling us to paper file is just bull.   I hope someone from TurboTax is reviewing this thread. After 2 rejections of my federal taxes, I probably will now wait until the 3/8 update release, and if that still doesn't work, I'll try Taxtony's suggestions.  But the amount of time this is taking is very frustrating.

phylponte  When did you last attempt to file?  It looks like the problem (likely on the IRS end) has been fixed.

I concur, phylponte. I am going to try e-filing again today, as per olsengt, a Mac user who had success. Will report back.

I filed today 3/4 and both Federal and State were accepted made no changes or workarounds file same return I attempted to file in Feb.   Glad they got it fixed but sure was a waste of time.

Do you mean you filed with the form 2210 with the waiver explanation and it accepted it?

sunami16  My TurboTax file does include the auto-generated waiver explanation in all the Forms, but I don't think it actually was part of the return itself because when you print "Return Only" it isn't included.  The IRS accepted the return.

Olsengt: Thanks, that's what I was wondering. It looks like it may be fixed as it looks like a few people have been successful this week. It would be nice if TT would let us know that as well.

I didn't change a thing from when I had filed back in Feb and had it rejected and yes my form 2210 was filed with box A checked and 85% waiver comment.  Both Federal and State accepted.  I saw that someone else had posted that it was an IRS issue and that it was resolved today.

I might add that the form 2210 wasn't in my printed return records but it was on the PDF file that I saved for future reference so I had a copy of exactly what was transmitted.  I would try and file pretty sure it will transmit ok.
