I have a line in the Capital Asset Sales Worksheet that I cannot delete no matter what I try. Turbo Tax flags it as an error. I think it is a bug in the program. If I poke at it too much the program crashes.
I need to manually override this entry somehow. It was originally the second entry. I substituted a valid entry in the number two place, but I am still left with a phantom entry in the number nine place that I cannot get rid of.

Can you delete the original entry that flowed into the Capital Asset Sales Worksheet?
If you're using TurboTax Online, clear your Cache and Cookies and retry. If TurboTax Desktop, is your program up to date? Go to the Online link at the top for updates.
If you can provide more details, we'll try to help.
Hi. I'm not quite sure what else I can tell you. I use the desktop program (and have for many years). It is up to date. The Quick Entry table now has a phantom entry in position 9 for xxx shares XXX with $0.00 proceeds and $0.00 cost, labeled as an E. It was the best workaround I could devise. I don't know whether it will file or cause problems.
I cannot delete this line from the Quick Entry Table or the Sale Results Table. I can delete some of the boxes, but not all, and it produces an error message. If I try too many things, the program crashes. If there is somewhere else to go to delete this, please let me know.
Thanks for your help.
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)
I tried to do this on April 6th and have been getting long error messages from gmail that the delivery is "delayed." I wrote you about it but have not heard back.
I just tried again this morning with a new token.
Please advise.
If you received a 'token', you need to post the number here (screenshot is best).
On the capital asset sales worksheet you posted, if you hover your cursor at the front of the line in question, do you get the magnifying glass icon? That should take you to the Capital Gain/Loss Adjustment Worksheet for this entry. You can then delete this worksheet.
Or, in the Investments section, can you scroll through and look for a tile with $0.00? If so, click on the trash can icon to delete it. In your case, the tile would be titled 'xxxSharesxxx'.
Hi, Your suggestions did not seem to work. I do not see any magnifying glass when I hover on the worksheet. When I clicked on the offending transaction in the investment section, the program ignored me and just went on to the next topic. As you can see below, the entry in mine is a bit distorted. It says "Needs" not "Needs Review" as it does in your sample screenshot.
I filed my taxes on Friday. They seem to have gone through. I hope the phantom entry doesn't cause a problem with the IRS.
I have tried to send you my TT file twice but both seem to have failed in the email. I get regular notices from Gmail about something being "delayed." I just sent it a third time. The token is: [phone number removed]4143 Have you received it? If not, I need something more in the way of instructions as to how to get it to you
Here is the token again, as a screenshot
Thank you for providing your token. From the screenshot that you provided, it looks like your Monitor resolution is causing you not to be able to see the full page. This can be changed in your System Preferences. It's possible that this is the source of your inability to delete the line in your Capital Asset Sales Worksheet.
If your return has been filed and accepted by the IRS, and the "phantom entry" does not change your correct tax, then there is nothing more for you to do.
