This is a major defect and something TT should fix ASAP.
This is not a defect it is a safety feature. And a CPA or Accountant cannot legally use the TT DIY program. They must use a professional program since they must sign the return.
Why would anyone need to give a tax preparer access to their Turbo Tax account? Just give them a printout or pdf file of your tax return. Or you can give them the data file ending in .tax2019 or .tax2020 that I think they can open in a professional Turbo Tax Intuit program. There's nothing they should be doing or changing in your account.
There are no professional TT programs and none of the Intuit or any other professional programs can use the .taxfiles so you can give them a PDF for the information they need to glean from the prior year return.
If the tax preparer uses Intuit ProSeries there is this....
How to Transfer Turbo Tax to ProSeries
I agree unless you need to file an estate return, form 709, that Turbo Tax does not do. So looking for a way to transfer 1040 return to CPA and I guess that would be the PDF file or what? Thanks
Ask the CPA what he wants. He might be able to use the pdf file or the .tax2020 data file. The .tax2020 file would be the best to transfer from.
What if you are doing your Turbotax on your computer instead of in the cloud?
