If you didn't receive your stimulus check, you can claim it on your 2020 return.
To access the stimulus question:
When I go in a do that it says I’m not missing any stimulus but I am for my 2021 baby I just removed one of my dependents which I already received a stimulus for
In the stimulus section of turbo tax, it will tell you the amount you should have received in 2021.If this matches what you did receive, then you would not be owed.
However, in your question, you mentioned that you deleted a dependent on this years tax return. He or she was on the return last year, so it may be possible that in counting the amount you did receive in 2021, you may be including the amount you received on behalf of that dependent. That is creating an issue, because Turbo Tax is calculating the stimulus based on your household in 2021. When answering the question regarding the amount of stimulus received last year, do not include the amount received on behalf of the individual who is no longer a dependent.
@ZoltanB45 I'm not so sure about that. Can you double check? Is 2021 the same? Last year for 2020 Stimulus payments it would be a wash.
2020 notes.....
If you lost one qualifying person because they turned 17 or you aren't claiming them this year and replaced that person with a new baby, you still have the same number of qualifying persons on your return.
The Recovery rebate credit is really based on your 2020 return. You got it for 1 Dependent and you only have 1 Dependent on your 2020 return. But you don't have to pay back the amount for the child you are not claiming this year.
