I completed and E Filed 2020 Tax Return in Feb 2021. Turbo Tax software rejected it. It suggested to make the corrections using 1040X. It turns out that Turbo Tax Premier had a glitch. It keeps giving error that I sold Employee Stocks which I never did. Because the software will not allow 1040X to be E Filed, I printed and sent it out. I called IRS at least 3 times and I was told it will take a long time to process 1040X.
I finally talked to someone from IRS today, 1 Feb 2022.. My 1040X was on hold. After almost an hour explaining about the software glitch, she made a referral on my 1040X fro someone to look at it a little deeper. I was told that some will be in touch within 30 days. However it could take 16 weeks to 6 mos before this return is completely resolved.
She also said that I can go ahead and process and e file my 2021 Tax Return. However I have to change the AGI for 2020 to $0 because it has not been process. When I start Turbo Tax Premier 2021, How can I change the AGI for 2020?
