I received a 2021 W2C. The SSA has not updated my 2021 earnings. How long should it take? I called and asked them but they couldn't provide a definite answer.

We cannot provide answers that need to come from the Social Security Administration. We can answer income tax questions and questions about the tax preparation software. If you received a corrected W-2, and the correction involved the amount of Social Security withheld, you might need to amend, but if the total amount of SS withheld for SS from your box 4 did not exceed $8853.60, then you do not need to amend your tax return for excess SS withheld. Then you just wait for SS to correct and update their records.
They probably haven't updated anyone for 2021 yet. There is a year or 2 lag.
Thank you for your reply, but it isn't a tax software question. I just wondered if anyone had any knowledge of how long it takes the SSA to update the earnings record upon receipt of a W2C.
I was talking about SSA. Has your original W2 even shown up in SSA yet? What did they change on the W2? It might not affect social security.
That reply was for xmasbaby0.
The 2021 earnings are available on the SSA site, but they show the W2 amount, not yet the W2C increased amount. It affects the benefit calculation.
