Yep, did it several times and it would not stick.

I am having the same issue -- my first quarter estimated payment is not being credited properly.. I could only work around it by forcing an override on line 11-a of form 2210 to reflect totals paid in q1 and q2.
The problem might be because the deduction was only $300 in prior years for a married return? My single return shows the $300 fine.
"However, the CARES Act authorized a deduction of up to $300 for monetary donations made by non-itemizers during 2020. Then the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) extended this tax break to 2021 and doubled the limit to $600 for joint filers."
Perhaps there is just a bug here because the program isn't managing the joint filer status. Last year status didn't matter.
I think that is exactly what the issue is.
It calculates the $600 fine when the contribution is entered. But then when I run error check, it changes it to $300 and flags it. There is a left-over coding issue from last year in the error check routine (imho).
I bought 2021 Turbo Tax deluxe with 1 state from Amazon. After the download, it wouldn't allow me to
activate the program. So I called Turbo Tax and you sent me another download to replace it. I downloaded it successfully but it wouldn't allow me to activate the program or enter my code to activate. So I gave up and
took it to Geeks at Work who said it was a sloppy Turbo Tax programmer error in that your 2021 download
program wasn't compatible with the higher screen resolution on my 1 yr old LG Notebook computer.
They fixed it and charged me $70+. So now my Turbo Tax is running, and I downloaded SC as my state.
But on another return I wanted to purchase and download NC as a 2nd state program. It wouldn't let me
download it or pay for it to download NC. Is it the same resolution compatibility problem that my
Geeks at Work guy said prevented me from using my 1st 2 downloads? I need help and I am very frustrated this year with your 2021 product. I am a senior citizen with limited tech skills so I don't always understand why something won't work, nor how to fix it. Thanks. lljboone
Hi, I am using the 2021 Turbo tax - Deluxe. After I put in all of my tax information and run the federal review and the state review everything looks ok when I look at the 1040 form. Once I run the overall review it changes my federal return. When I check the 1040 form it changes the charitable deduction with using the standard deduction from $600 to $300. $600 is the correct number for married filing in 2021 (the $300 cap was for last year or for filing single this year). I ran to make sure I have the latest updates to the software and the same issue. let me know when this will get fixed. Thanks John

For the TurboTax desktop editions -
To remove the error I went into Forms mode and deleted the Charitable Organization Worksheet. Then on the Form 1040 Worksheet for Line 12b removed the $300 amount so Line 12b is now blank (empty).
Going back to Step-by-Step I completed the Deductions & Credits section without entering anything for a charitable donation. Continuing through the screens until landing on the screen labeled Charitable Cash Contributions under Cares Act, I entered $600. Continued through Final Review without error.

The problem appears to be that a charitable donation was entered in the Deductions and Credits section of the program when you are only eligible for the Standard Deduction.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen
Click on Tools
Click on Delete a form
Scroll through the all the forms, schedules and worksheets listed and delete all the Charitable Organization forms listed.
When completed with removing forms click on Continue With My Return at the bottom of the list.
Click on Federal on the left side of the screen
Click on Deductions & Credits at the top of the screen
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Wrap up tax breaks
Continue through the screens. After the screen showing that you are getting the Standard Deduction the following screen is Charitable Cash Contributions under Cares Act. Enter $600 if filing Jointly or $300 for all other filing status'. The federal review and the Final Review should no longer show an error for the charitable donation.
under Federal Taxes section, Investments, the software is stuck in a do-loop that I cannot get past. How do I fix this?
I am using the online Premier version purchased through Costco, which is downloaded from online.
I am stuck in an endless do-loop that I cannot get past. Under the Federal Taxes, Investments section, the software just keeps cycling through the 5 or 6 questions and when I say i'm done, it goes right back to the question loop??
How do I get out of this so I can continue? I have logged out and back in to the same problem.
Same issue exists in Home and Business version.
I just went to a different major section at the top (like Deductions or Federal review) to get out of the loop. Then I went back to the income section and chose the next section to work on.
Thanks, I finally got it to work.
On Home and Business, you need to click "Done with Deductions" at the bottom, and then cycle through the next four screens. Like you said, just past the "standard deduction is right for you" page is a page asking for amount of charitable contributions.
in TurboTax 2021 Hawaii, "Less Common Hawaii Credits' all forms are spelled "from"
For 2020 and I suspect 2021 Turbo Tax may calculate an incorrect Charitable Deduction Limit when one has a combination of cash and capital gains (stock) gifts to qualified organisations. The error appears to be in IRS' worksheet. Based on my 2020 return, the issue is as follows.
Assume that my AGI is $100 and I donate $50 in cash and $20 in stock. TurboTax and the IRS Worksheet 2 (Applying the deduction limit in Publication 526) would say that I could deduct $70 from my income. Unfortunately that is not what the IRS says. The IRS says I can deduct only $60 since the stock contribution is limited to 60% of my AGI. I have gone round and round with the IRS on this but that's what their computer calculates even if I get a different number from their worksheet.
Turbo Tax is making a calculation error on line 12b on form 1040, when I do the final review, after state taxes, it changes my charitable donations from $600 to $300. After oil does this it tells me I have an error and I need to change it back to $600. I save it and then go back through to check things and it does the same thing again, even though I saved it and it should be $600 in line 12b of form 1040 worksheet. I tried calling and the computer generated person, won't let me speak to a real human unless I have a purchased the rights to do so. This is not very good customer service and I'm not happy with this.
