If you don't need all of the features of TurboTax Self Employed, you can downgrade from TurboTax Self Employed to another version of TurboTax Online, as long as you haven't paid yet (or registered in a free version) - but please bear in mind that you will need to clear any data which you have entered in Self Employed, and start over in the other TurboTax version.

Turbo Tax has classified me as self-employed. I am a widow and retired and that is what I entered. How do I get it to recognize that I am not self-employed

If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2021 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
Note - If you have entered a Form 1099-MISC with income shown in box 7 of the form or a Form 1099-NEC with income in box 1, this would indicate to the program that you are self-employed, thereby requiring the use of the Self-Employed edition to report the income and expenses for your self-employment.
This does not exist nor does it work!!!
You need to delete your self-employment forms that were created when you rolled your 2020 file into 2021.
To delete, please follow the instructions below:
"If you get to a self-employment summary screen, delete the self-employment income line with the trash can icon" All I have is the option to edit/Add there is no trashcan.. I really don't want to reset and start all over- is there another way to delete self-employment from this return? I've already deleted last year's info and said "no" to "Did you have any self-employment income or expenses?" and it still leaves the self-employed edit/add option..
You will want to delete the schedule C, to get rid of the self employment income. The Schedule C form is used to report income or losses from a business you operated. To delete in TurboTax online, you will follow these steps:
Thank you for the help. I do not have an option for schedule C listed when I go to tools screen. Are there any other forms that indicate pricing for self employed? We had self employed income in early 2021 but $0 for 2022 and I feel like it carried forward my prior year pricing.
If you are needing to upgrade for Self Employed to include Schedule C, please see this Help Article.
I'm having same situation. No schedule C or SE listed and still trying to charge me $119 instead of the normal $59.
Please state your exact issue ... did you have a Sch C in 2021 and transfer the 2021 return info into the 2022 program ?
Did you close the business in 2021?
I was trying to downgrade from the self employed program to the premium option. I assumed the program would "start fresh" with determining what program we'd like to use. It looks like it automatically carried over the prior year program, which was self employed.

Have you tried Clear and Start Over?
