Using TT Desktop Windows 11, 2025. When entering 1099-R info, the drop-down Box 15 does not have TX in the list. My paper 1099-R has TX in Box 15 even though I don't need to report any income for TX. Troubles me that my 1099 form will not match what is reported to IRS through TT on Box 15.
Should I go ahead and file even though that information does not match? I have a refund due, would like to go ahead and get it!
Thank you!
TX has no state income tax, so TX will not appear in certain drop down menus. Just leave that box blank.
Thank you for such prompt reply! The drop down does not allow a blank response. You must choose a state, and again TX is not there as an option.
Haven't heard of anyone else not being able to leave the state box blank. In fact leave all boxes 14, 15 & 16 blank, no spaces. If you can't get it to work then delete that 1099R and enter it again Manually. That usually fixes it.
Thank you! In looking at it again, I was able to click on <Select> in the drop-down in order to leave Box 15 blank. Duh! My mistake, maybe someone here can have an aha! moment too!
Plenty of aha moments - complicated and ever-changing stuff.
I'm having the same problem. Turbotax is good at answering tax problems but their ability to solve their own software issues appears to be non-existent
f/u: worked for an hour with TurboTax support and appears to indeed be a glitch with their software. He went to escalate the issue only to discover that the glitch has already been raised by others, but not repaired. What a huge waste of time for both me and the support person.
