Form 8915-E is available today from IRS. When will the program make it available for me to file?

So is form 8915-F going to supersede 8915-E ?  Is that why I'm having to wait to file my taxes ?  If so, that makes sense because why would I have to wait for a form that was already implemented in 2021 for the 2020 tax year.  That programming should exist already in Turbotax.  I hope that's how it's going to work because I don't have a QDD for the 2021 tax year, just for the 2020 tax year where I chose NOT to spread over three years, but to pay all the tax in 2020.

Since you did not split your 2020 distribution there is no need for you to use the Form 8915-F.  You can just complete your tax return and file.

The Form 8915-E was only use for tax year 2020.  It cannot be used for any other tax year.  If you did not distribute a 2020 withdrawal over 3 years you can just complete your tax return and file.

Form 8915-E is available today from IRS. When will the program make it available for me to file?

Thank you for your quick response. I am talking about those who made a 3 repayment options on taxes. I did the first payment in 2020 but I didn't get a 1099-R in 2021. Therefore, If I click NO on the question "Did you get a 1099R in 2021?" but I did receive a distribution from my retirement plan in 2019. TurboTax is telling me that " You need to review this later since TurboTax doesn't have that form ready. If anybody in this forum knows about this, please let me know, thanks!!!

Are you using one of the TurboTax online editions?

If so, on the screen Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2021? you should answer Yes since you had a distribution in 2020 due to Covid-19 and you selected to spread the distribution over 3 years.

On the following screen Did you take a disaster distribution at any time between 2018 and 2020? you should answer Yes since this particular question directly relates to a Covid-19 distribution and the need to report 1/3 of the amount distributed.

The following screen states You'll need to revisit this area

The new IRS Form 8915-F is used to report the 2020 distribution which was spread over 3 years.

The Form 8915-F, Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Retirements for tax year 2021 is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 03/31/2022. (possibly sooner)

Form 8915-E is available today from IRS. When will the program make it available for me to file?

That is what I am talking about. I have never filed my taxes in April. Thanks, TurboTax I will take this in consideration next year.

Form 8915-E is available today from IRS. When will the program make it available for me to file?

That is incorrect information Intuit. I’ve deleted that form 4-5x already(attempted to anyway)and it will NOT go away? I’ve worked on this issue with 2 different TurboTax Reps and they can’t figure it out either? Done everything from refresh, cleared cache, deleted forms, unchecked Disaster Retirement Disbursement box. Nothing works? This form doesn’t even apply to me? Form 8915-ET.

Form 8915-E is available today from IRS. When will the program make it available for me to file?

The IRS has altered Form 8915 for tax year 2021 to include additional qualified events.  This has led to the delay in form availability in TurboTax.

If you believe this form does not apply to you, please verify your 1099-R entry and/or delete all entries related to a 1099-R if you did not receive one.  To do this please follow these steps:

  1. Within your return in TurboTax Online search for 1099-R.
  2. Click the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. On the review screen, delete the 1099-R line with the trash can icon.
  4. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen.
  5. Click on Delete a Form
  6. Scroll down to your 1099-R and click Delete if it is still there.

Ok, piggy backing but I paid my penalties straight up each year.  I should not have an 8915E to worry about but I cannot proceed with filing because your Turbo Tax is saying I am waiting on this form.   And I have no way of contacting anyone at Turbo Tax to have them look at this problem.  Where is your toll free number?  This will be my last year with Turbo Tax if I am not heard.  And I only hear crickets.   I already paid and now I can't even pay my state taxes because this whole thing is on hold????

Form 8915-E is available today from IRS. When will the program make it available for me to file?

Thanks for your response. Form 8915-F in TurboTax right now is making me pay way more than I paid last year on taxes from my covid 19 distribution. I am not paying the same amount that I paid in taxes last year since I took the three payments. Is this NEW 8915-F you are talking about will fix this issue? and please let me know if TurboTax will inform me when this new form will be available to file my taxes as soon as possible. Thanks

Form 8915-E is available today from IRS. When will the program make it available for me to file?

Form 8915-F is scheduled to be available on 3/24/22.

Form 8915-F is used to report a disaster-related retirement distribution, and any repayments of those funds.

It also allows you to spread the taxable portion of the distribution over three years, if needed, and reports prior-year distribution amounts to be taxed in 2021. Form 8915-F replaces Form 8915-E.
