Form 8615 - how can I tell turbo tax my son supported himself in 2021 ?

Hello - form 8615 just showed up for me in doing my sons taxes. I want to tell the system my son supported himself in 2021 - he's taken a job in another state and made 23K in earned income. I can't see where to answer/re-answer this question to make the 8615 go away. Where can I update this "did you support yourself in 20XX?"

Here are the instructions I found

Actually, its quite simple

Form 8615 appears after you have answered the question 

"did you support yourself in 20XX?"

if you answer YES. The form will not appear because you supported yourself.

If you answer NO. The government will assume that you were living under the care of a parent and/or guardian. that being said, the government requires you to file their income tax because their income also helped you.

To delete Form 8615: Tax for Certain Children who have Unearned Income in TurboTax online because it is not needed, follow the steps below:

• Log on to your Turbo Tax Online account and open your return by clicking Take me to my return.
• Select My Account at the top of the page, then Tools from the drop-down box.
•  In the Tools box, click on Delete a Form.
• When the list of forms in your return appears, look for "Form 8615: Tax for Certain Children who have Unearned Income". If it is there, delete it. 
• Confirm that you want to delete the form, click Continue, then choose Continue With My Return (at the bottom of the list) to go back to your return.

Hello. Thanks for the quick reply. When I delete the form it comes right back when I run the review step. I use a windows version of turbo tax deluxe. 

Shouldn't it be asking the question on whether the filer supported themselves?  How is it deciding to require the form ?

The process for deleting a form in TurboTax CD/Download software is a little bit different. Please see How do I delete a tax form in the TurboTax CD/Download software? for instructions.

Thanks for the response. I actually found the issue. On the personal information worksheet form I updated the following

Are you a full time student ?  Answer No

Did you provide over half of your support in 2021 ? Answer Yes

This turned off the 8615 form and it dissappeared
