Still does not work 2-12-24
Does anyone know if this is just a timing issue? i.e. if I wait another week or two, and do a TT update AGAIN, will I then be permitted to e-file?
I posted on their Intuit FB page as well as sending them a FB Message. No response yet!
This is becoming ridiculous! Perhaps, I need to seek out other tax solutions for 2024 than TT also?
We know some of our customers have had issues with Form 7206. Please use this FAQ to sign up for notifications.
None of us knows for sure. I’m going to give it until Friday. If we haven’t heard by then, I will remove the 7206 and Efile it. Later I will amend, on paper if they haven’t fixed it by then, and get a refund.
Don’t think all that will be necessary. They surely must know by now how distressing this is to so many of us.
Note that because I cannot get to the very end of the e-file process, I cannot direct a timely "refund" to i-Series bonds. Paper filing means later filing. Later e-filing after 2/12/2024 will likely mean missing interest for the month of January. State taxes are also held hostage.
I followed the FAQ link to sign up for notifications. That leads me to a whole series of account setup and product offering questions? That's not what I expected.
The Form 7206 may be new, but last year it was basically the same thing, only classified as a worksheet. This tells me the TurboTax team isn't doing effective structured testing in advance.
One member noted problem resolution by removing "0" entries in 1095-A form. I have no zero entries. Revisiting the form didn't help. FWIW, many members claim they only have Medicare and not marketplace (1095-A), but some may have both in transition years or for a spouse. You need to test all scenarios.
I am using CD/desktop version (home and business) and have installed the latest updates through today Feb 12 a.m.
Clearing cache and cookies on my browser had absolutely no effect on the problem. Still getting a message that I AM INELIGIBLE FOR E-FILING because of Form 7206 and that this is due to IRS Policy?
Form 7206 is still in draft form with the IRS and per the IRS website you cannot file a draft form either by mail or efile. Here is the link to the form: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/i7206--dft.pdf
This is frustrating. How are we to know how long it will take for the IRS to approve the form??? And it's more frustrating that TT isn't telling this to their customers.
Why are you not telling customers that form 7206 is still in draft form with the IRS? https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/i7206--dft.pdf You cannot file in any way a draft form. Someone should be speaking with the IRS to find out the time frame for the form's approval. Stop telling people to do fixes that won't work and are only upsetting people more.
My token number is 1180138
Only federal, no state return
Won't let me e-file. Please advise as I want to e-file as soon as possible.
Make sure your return is saved. Now remove Form 7206. See how much your refund goes down. If you can live with that on a temporary basis, Efile. Then prepare a 1040X, which you can paper file.
It’s this or wait a few days, hoping there will be news or a fix by Thursday.
Maybe someone else will have a better idea. Since the online program efiles this form, some may elect to do that. I sure would demand a refund of the TT charge or dispute it on my credit card if I went with Online. Not your fault this is such a problem!
I don't know why TT isn't telling customers that form 7206 is still in draft form with the IRS. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/i7206--dft.pdf You cannot file in any way a draft form. Someone from TT should be speaking with the IRS to find out the time frame for the form's approval and they should be telling people the reason for the problem.
Thanks TennBill for calling TTx and the update on the situation.
