Hi, quick question on filing with turbotax. I have the turbotax on my desktop. I thought I read that if there are more than 1 return in a household to be filed using turbotax that only one could be filed online but anyone listed as a dependent who has to file a return has to file in paper. Is that correct?
How does filing actually work? Are a lot filed electronically rejected? I have always filed in paper. Just asking.
Thanks

They can both be submitted using the same. If you were using TurboTax Online, then each return would require its own unique login. Please see this Help Article for more information.
According to https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/
each desktop product includes 5 federal e-files.
The Basic product charges extra for state download. The other products include 1 state download (the software), but State e-file is an extra charge.
If you need more than 5, you can always save the files, print your forms and mail them in. Same applies for filing your state income taxes.
Thanks....the follow up question was whether a dependent's return could be filed also. I thought I read that dependent returns had to be mailed vs. filed electronically. Is there an order they should be filed (i.e., parents first then dependents)?
Yes, you can e-file dependent returns as well. They do not have to be filed in a specific order but you will want to make sure they are completed (filled out) correctly.
Please feel free to contact Customer Support if you have additional questions so you can speak with someone who can assist you.
One more follow up question. If you file for yourself and your dependent with separate tax returns using turbotax desk software (not the online) does each person need their own Turbotax/Intuit account? Or can they be both submitted using the same? Thanks
They can both be submitted using the same. If you were using TurboTax Online, then each return would require its own unique login. Please see this Help Article for more information.
