I got that error, then found that I was accidentally attempting to save the file to another user's directory on my Mac, and thus won't have the write permission. I changed the save directory to my own directory and it worked.
The link leads into a perpetual circle. This problem requires a real person who knows the guts of Turbotax, not a _tax_ expert!

Spent an afternoon entering data in TurboTax Deluxe, attempted to save a secure version with a password, got a message "The password must be between 8 and 32 characters long." Finally saved without a password to not lose the data..

I have deluxe and am experiencing the same issue. It started when I first saved and did not select the encryption option. At one point, I was not allowed to e-file and the reason was that the return could not be saved. I force quit and repeated the e-file process and it went through (I think). Waiting to hear from IRS.
That worked. I went into System Preferences, Privacy & Security, then Full Disk Access, then Click the lock to make changes and selected Turbo Tax. That did it. Move this message to the top!!!!

I use a MAC lap-top. I cannot get to the bottom of the pages to 'save' my data. How do I save data?
