e filing deadline in disaster areas

It was Extremely distressing to discover after completing my taxes today, that Turbo Tax will not let me efile them, EVEN THOUGH THE IRS says this option in available to those of us in disaster areas until November16.  Talking to a live person did not bring satisfaction as she just repeated the mantra that the option to efile is closed.  This is ridiculous.  Why must I print many, many pages and mail hard copies when it is inconvenient both for the IRS and for me.  Come on, Turbo Tax!!!

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

@JeannePeterson I suspect and have no proof, that you are up against the infrastructure design at Turbo Tax.

Since they only provide one tax year online at a time, I suspect they need the 5 weeks from the end of October until December 3 (2023 launch date)  to "promote" and test the new tax year software on the website.

You are not charged for efile, so while it may inconvenient to print and mail the return, it is available.

Be sure you are only print what is required; all the supporting schedules are NOT required.

While I appreciate the IRS moved the filing deadline to November 16, that did not require Turbo Tax to move their deadline to efile.   Further, if you are due a refund, the deadline to claim that refund is in 3 years, so filing by November 16 is really not an imperative.
