I read that you can continue to e-file (the process of actually using an electronic send of tax return) up to November 1, that it was on the IRS Quick Access Library. I haven't found the confirmation of that yet.
I do know however, one year this was true, but Turbo Tax locked down the e-file about 2 hours early on October 15th, causing my tax return to be a few hours late (yes, I accounted for time zone differences.)
At any rate, I do have an approved extension, I am getting a considerable refund, however, I'm waiting on some 1099-C forms to arrive, and fear I won't have the information prior to October 15th, so trying to stay ahead of this.
Please advise if e-file is accepted this year until November.
Thank you!

HELLO ALL ... TT will stop efiling 10/15 for new returns and if you are rejected you have 5 days to "perfect" it and resend it. No new returns can be efiled after 10/15. Period.
Now what you see on the IRS website is for professional programs which allow efile longer. Last year the deadline was just after Thanksgiving. The entire efile system closes down for the change over to the new tax year and opens again in January of the next tax year. Some professionals can efile returns for 3 tax years (currently 2018, 2019 & 2020) and efile amended returns currently for 2019 & 2020. However even pros are subject to the 2 month blackout like the DIY programs.
If you did not read it on the irs.gov website, then it's probably not true. Could it be that your state may have extended e-filing maybe? Can't rule that out.
The most current information for the federal return is at https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/oct-15-deadline-approaches-for-taxpayers-who-requested-extensions-to-fi...
Even if the IRS keeps Efiling open longer Turbo Tax might not. Here is Turbo Tax calendar
I understand what you are saying ... It's not the 'approved extension deadline' that I'm inquiring about, it's the ability to transmit electronically versus sending in a paper return.
Okay, then maybe I need to start searching for an e-provider that has this longer electronic window ....
I read it where there was a link to the IRS site, it was pulling the data from there, but when I land on the page, there are many many PDFs.
See below:
Here is the link .... on the IRS Site with confirmation of November 1 .... but still do not know if TurboTax closes on the 15th....
