I did not file in 2018 and I only e-filed my 2019 return a couple of days ago, and as such I have not yet received my stimulus money, which is understandable. However the status of that 2019 submission is still pending. If it's not accepted by Oct 15th will I still get my stimulus money? What if it's rejected? Should I print and mail my return just to be safe?

Mailing your return will not get you a stimulus check in 2020 based on the IRS processing your mailed 2019 return. The IRS is currently working on opening over 11 million pieces of mail that piled up during the pandemic. A return you mail now may not even have a fighting chance of being opened by a human for several months. And e-filing and mailing your return is a recipe for confusion and delay. Give your e-file time--and check your emails for word on whether they are accepted or rejected.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
