For tax year 2020?  You only need to pay the fourth quarter 2020 estimated taxes by January 15, 2021.  Any amount can be paid for quarterly payment.

Go to the IRS payment website for Direct Pay, choose Estimated Taxes and 2020 for the year - https://www.irs.gov/payments

The 4th quarter estimate for 2020 due Jan 15?  Yes you can skip it.  The 1040ES estimates are optional to pay.  The IRS is not expecting them.

Turbo Tax was very conservative and doesn't want you to owe next year.  They might have printed out if you got a big one time increase in income.   like if you took a IRA or 401K Withdrawal or had a big stock gain.  They are optional to pay.  They don't get sent in with your tax return so the IRS won't be expecting them.  You can ignore them.

With respect to the fourth quarter payment, due January 15, 2021, you can skip that payment provided that you file your 2020 Form 1040 or 1040-SR by February 1, 2021, and pay the rest of the tax you owe.

Of course, if you do wish to defer that final 4th Qtr payment , and use the option to pay and file your tax return by 1 Feb.....you may be caught in Catch-22 and should not plan on doing that.  (yeah, just an opinion....but what could go wrong)

1)  You must file a complete tax return, with all data entered...including investment 1099-B/8949 forms that may not come out until mid-Feb.

2) The software may not have all the forms finalized to enable you to file....finger point all you want, but the IRS doesn't care whose fault it is..

3) No one has any idea whether the IRS will start accepting any tax files by then....they might extend the 1 Feb deadline for that situation...they may not.
