It is my first time that I couldh't e-file my federal tax returns last night after I override one amount to make a correction as there is an error in Turbo Tax Premier on my Mac! I am very disappointed as I never had that issue for over 20 years! Anyone experienced that issue/? I had to mail fed tax returns next day and now I am one day late! Tried to call IRS but they are extremely busy! Would I be charged a penalty and interest? Hope not too much but I did write a letter explaining the technical issue with Turbo Tax and hope they'll waive the penalty and interest for that reason.

You cannot e-file with overrides. Overrides should never be necessary. Overrides void the TurboTax accuracy guarantee.
You have 5 days to correct a reject or mail the return without penalty. You should have attached a copy of the reject notice with the mailed return that shows that you timely filed. Keep it for future use.
Exactly what required an override?
Tax returns with overrides cannot be e-filed because they contain calculations not approved by the IRS. They are also not covered by the TurboTax 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee.
The IRS may charge penalty and interest. The Service is unlikely to waive a penalty if imposed. The IRS will waive the penalty if:
2020 Instructions for Form 2210
I entered a wrong value by accident in Schedule A and then it got messed up! I couldn't undo it. So I had to override it with the correct value. It is the total of itemized deductions. I wanted to apply that instead of using the standard deduction. I believe it is a technical issue with Turbo Tax software itself.
I did override several times in the past for over 20 years with Turbo Tax and never had an issue e-filing after doing that but now Turbo Tax wouldn't accept that and I am not too happy with that and now I am a day late. It really pisssed me off! I may have to consider switching to another tax software or other tax services next year.
Every schedule A entry comes from an interview question. Anything on Schedule A can be corrected without overrides.
Everything was going well until I entered a wrong value and all of sudden they applied the standard deduction instead of my itemized deductions on my tax returns. I couldn't reverse it back so I had to override the error with the correct value of the total of my itemized deductions since it is larger than the standard deduction.
