with a 2021 w-2 that you didn't report, the IRS should reject your return. then you can add the w-2 and re efile
did you receive a payment in January 2021 for 2020. that would go on a 2021 w-2.
I don’t remember getting a payment. It was so long ago. On the turbo tax app my taxes got accepted so I’m super confused about what to do.
you can ignore that tiny W-2.
OR
you can amend later to add $29 to your income.
you only get one amend e-File so don't waste it.
let things settle in case there are other issues.
IRS may adjust your tax return for you.
I got the w2 just yesterday so I didn’t even think I was going to get one for that job. I thought all w2s had to be given by the 31st of January?
Per IRS, employers will meet the furnish requirement if the form is properly addressed and mailed on or before the due date of January 31.
You generally need to amend your income tax return if the W-2 affects your refund or amount due. Please see Do I need to Amend? for additional information.
Note: the 2021 amendment form 1040-X hasn't been released by the IRS so you won't be able to amend your tax return until then. See When will my forms be ready?
