My taxes were rejected because my son did not mark on his taxes that he could be claimed as a dependent. I had him amend his taxes with this update, they were accepted and I waited a week to re- submit my taxes just to give time for everything to update with the IRS. They are still rejected for the same reason. I am at a loss of what to do to correct this issue.

Your only remedy is to print, sign and date your return in ink and mail it in. Waiting for his amended return to be processed will not help you to e-file this year. His SSN is in the system for the year now. It will be many months before the IRS removes the duplicate use of his SSN.
This is a very common experience for parents of students and young adults who are filing first tax returns.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Would the paper taxes still be rejected if his SSN hasn't been cleared yet? Should I put a note with our paper returns stating why we mailed them in instead of e- file?
Will turbo tax provide me with the addresses I need to send both federal and state taxes to?
Mailed returns are not "accepted" or "rejected" like e-filed returns are. A mailed return will be handled by a human who opens the envelope and enters the information into the system. No, you do not have to include a note. It may take about three to four weeks after you mail the return before you see anything on the IRS refund site.

For the address to mail your state return---look on the site for your state: (It might be printed right on the state form, depending on the state)
