This is an address entry.  If there is a character in the the "Apt" box in the federal "My Info" section, then TurboTax expects a unit number to follow.  If your address does not include or need one of these uhits then you can revisit the federal "My Info" or "Personal Info" section and edit your address.  Be sure there is no stray space/character in the the "APT" box by deleting/backspace as needed.

If it does apply, put the number in the box there in the federal interview.  Then revisit the CA state interview and "Edit" the "General Info" section.  There you will be able to select the proper unit description from the dropdown menu from choices such as "Apt, Bldg, Floor, Rm, Ste, etc."

I checked the personal section on both the federal and the state, but there was nothing there.   What else could it have been?

When the error pops again.  Try entering a space or a period or a zero.  This is not a tax calculation issue but simply an efile check.  Anything you can put in there to pass the efile test will work.  Please post what works in case others have this experience.
