Can I use Chromebook with TurboTax for 2022 return?
If you have a Chromebook you can use online TurboTax, but you cannot use the CD/download. In order to use the CD/download you need a full PC or Mac.
Doing it on line. Can I save it to my computer. I need more time to work because of my eyes tiring.
@Harry77 Your return is saved in your online account when you use online TurboTax. You do not have to finish it all at once. You can log out and come back to work on it later. Just make sure to use the same account and user ID to log in again.
Frustrating - as my older computer that I have used with Turbotax for year (with windows) requires some Net 4.8 download which doesn't work on my computer. Now I have purchased a product I cannot use. :(
Need to fix this Intuit!!
@Willmj507 If your computer does not meet the system requirements to support using the CD/download, you can use online TurboTax instead.
Did you already purchase the CD/download?
CD/DOWNLOAD REFUND https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/forms/refund-request.jsp
@xmasbaby0 Thanks but the online version is more expensive than the desktop/cd download for windows/mac. Too bad have used TurboTax for many years. Now will have to request refund / take back to Costco. Not in the plan when I purchased.
And it only supports one return.... :(
desktop versions NO. online YES.
Yes but only online.
If I am able to do my taxes online why do I have to download the software?

You do not have to download the TurboTax 2024 desktop software if you will be using the TurboTax 2024 online editions.
Why do you think you would need to?
@2jairo2 This is a very old thread with posts from multiple users. If you have a full PC or Mac that meets the system requirements for the desktop download then you can use the download or use online TurboTax----it is your own choice. You do not "have" to download the software if you do not want to. There are pros and cons to each platform. And the pricing is very different.
If you need to prepare multiple returns for various family members, etc., desktop software is more cost effective.
With online software you get ONE return per fee, and federal and state are priced separately.
@2jairo2 If you bought the Desktop program you have to download it and install it on your computer. You can’t apply the Desktop purchase to the Online version.
The Online version is done by logging in to your Online account using a web browser each time. You don’t need to download anything.
The Desktop program and Online version have different features and are priced differently.
