I just spent a frustrating hour with a customer service rep and finally, when I asked for a supervisor, I was told that the supervisor had been listening in on the call and that she is the one who is insisting that I need to purchase an additional license for the other platform--even though there is absolutely no indication of that requirement on the packaging. For the record, in past years, I have always used the Windows and my adult daughter the Mac version--two separate downloads--off the same CD license purchased from Costco. This is egregious and inexcusable as well as deceptive business practice--to claim we can have up to 5 downloads WITHOUT specifying that the downloads must be limited to one platform. TurboTax customer service totally sucks! I will tell everyone I know to get off the TurboTax train as soon as they can because clearly, they no longer have integrity or respect for their customers. For the record, I have been a loyal TurboTax user/customer since as far back as I can remember (well over a decade).
I noticed the date - March 14, 2022. Well it is now July 11, 2022 and TurboTax Customer Service still sucks. I was unable to get the agent or her supervisor to acknowledge the issue--much less, resolve it. Their solution--I need to buy another license! Are these people for real? !
I was pleasantly surprised that when I installed the .dmg file for Mac from the CD on my laptop, it worked immediately. I used the license code that came with the CD. I had previously installed on my mother's PC back in April 2022. This is for the Home & Business version.
The CD has both the PC and MAC program installation files on it ... the only really good reason to buy the CD is if you need to install on both OS. If you used the CD to download the first time you must always use the CD to install everytime so make sure to keep the CD in a save place. If you used the download option the first time you must always use the download option. You cannot "mix and match" ... that is the limitation of the CD product ... so pro and con. Once you learn the rules life is good.
I purchased the 2022 CD and when I launched it in a CD drive of an old Macbook, it showed only the TurboTax.dmg and not the Windows executable. I viewed the contents of the CD using the Finder and Command Line, and any Windows folders on the CD are hidden from view, and if I try to copy the contents of the CD to a flash drive, only the Mac files are copied. How do I access the Windows installation volume on the CD?
If you are having trouble installing your MAC software, please see this TurboTax Help Article for assistance: How do I install the TurboTax software for Mac?

@bctaxpayer Don't you have a CD reader on the pc? Find a friend with a windows computer to copy the CD to a usb drive. See SteamTrains post here

If you bought it from TT directly you can call and ask for the PC version in exchange OR you can buy the version you need and get a refund for the one you cannot use ...
Go to this TurboTax website to request a refund for the software purchased from TurboTax - https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/forms/refund-request.jsp

I was able to download for both Windows and Mac for just 1 license fee. It was a little tricky though. Here is what I did...
Thank you for providing this workaround. @caw4
Please make sure the technical support folks at TT get this message of the relatively simple workaround for folks who use the CD to do the first download and then need to download the other OS file without the CD ... due to the fact that computers do not come with a DVD drive standard any longer this is a common issue these days. In fact a FAQ on this matter and/or some instructions in the CD packet would be proactive of the company.
Sadly, this method no longer worked. I got an error message saying: "Whoops! We hit a snag loading your data. Please try again."
