IRS won't tell you .

you;ll have to inquire of family, friends, or non-friends.

No.  The IRS will not tell you.   If someone claimed you, and you cannot be claimed as anyone else's dependent, your own tax return will have to be filed by mail.  Whoever claimed you has already put your SSN into the system, so any attempts you make to e-file will be rejected.  Print, sign and date your return in ink, and mail it in.

The IRS will sort out the duplicate use of your SSN.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Was it your parents?  Do you live with someone?  Do you qualify as someone's dependent?  If so, you will need to ask your family who claimed you.

If not, then no, the IRS will not tell you who claimed you even if they know.

If someone filed a fraudulent return claiming you as a dependent follow the steps in the link below to file your return.
