A TurboTax Online account can only be used for one federal tax return. To do a tax return for someone else, you have to use a different account. You cannot prepare another tax return with the same account that you used for your own return. You have to pay for each account separately.
When you have to file multiple returns, it's usually less expensive to use the CD or download TurboTax software. You pay for the software once and you can use it for multiple returns. There is an additional charge for each state e-file, but it still usually works out to be less expensive. The CD or download software also has features that are not available in TurboTax Online. The most significant feature is forms mode, which lets you look at the forms while you are working on the tax return, and even make entries directly on the forms.
See the FAQ at the following link for instructions to start another tax return with a new account.

If you are a paid tax preparer, you cannot use TurboTax at all, either Online or CD/Download. TurboTax is only for consumer use. Intuit (the company that makes TurboTax) has three tax software product lines for professional preparers: ProSeries, Lacerte, and ProConnect Tax Online. You can find information about all three product lines at the following link.

If you have a small practice with primarily individual clients, you will probably find ProSeries Basic to be most suitable.
I have desktop TurboTax for Mac. Earlier this year I filed my brother's tax return for him, using my desktop and my intuit account. Two days ago, I tried to file my own extension 4868. I paid about $1700 dollars in, using TurboTax. I received no notification that anything was wrong. None. I thought i was all set. But I didn't receive an email, not even one that said I hadn't filed. But the fact is, my extension had not gone through because my brother's tax return was linked to my account.
I had used free-file for his return, and I had paid for my desktop for mine and downloaded my new 2019 Deluxe a few days ago.
By the time I figured this out with the help of a cpa at Turbotax, I was 2 days late filing. This is is a bad flaw in the TurboTax system. And I'm left holding the bag. This should not have happened. The system should have notified me that my return had not been accepted. It did nothing, just left the page, and that was the end of it. I had no idea until I noticed the money had not been withdrawn from my bank. I'm pretty miffed and think I will not use Turbotax again.
Staring with tax year 2020. Did turbo tax install more measures to stop people from sharing turbo tax.
I and the 2nd user on this CD and when I downloaded updates I was locked out with a warning I was
not registered with the proper number. If the first guy gave me his number to make it work, I would have
access to see his taxes. Am I right? Way to go TurboTax. More money for you.
