Can I add a dependent that received a stimulus in 2020? How do I proceed when TT is asking about the 3rd stim payments? I only received the 1400 but she already got hers.

I am unsure how to proceed from the "did you get a third stim payment?" I did not get 2800 but I got 1400 and my dependent got 1400 seperately.

Congress left a loophole that allows you to claim a dependent who received the stimulus check based on a 2020 return, if you claim that dependent on your own 2021 return. You can still get the $1400 if the dependent is claimed on your own 2021 return. When it asks if you received $2800 you say no, because YOU did not receive the $1400 for that dependent last year. Your dependent received it, and does not have to pay it back.
