Add A dependent on my stimulus check

How do I add my daughter on my taxes my baby father claimed her and I have had her u have custody and placement and I can’t get ahold of the IRS to get him in trouble for claiming my daughter when he hasn’t had her at all can you please please help he keep getting money for her and not even helping with her I take care of her not him

Add A dependent on my stimulus check

You file your return right and claim her if you are qualified to claim her.  If your return rejects because he already claimed her then you will have to print and mail your return.  The IRS will investigate to determine who is able to claim her.

Was she born in 2020?  A child born (even on Dec 31) is considered to live with you the whole year.  So pick the Whole Year at the top of the drop down box.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

I need to add my children to the non filers stimulus

Add A dependent on my stimulus check

@princesspee2369-_ Not quite sure what you mean by adding to a non-filer stimulus.   There is not an IRS portal at this time for "non-filers" to get stimulus checks.   But you can file a 2020 tax return to get the first and/or second EIP payment as a recovery rebate credit if you did not receive it yet.

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check in 2020, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021

The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the FEDERAL REVIEW section. ( you should see "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount”)  If you are eligible it will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

Make sure that you enter ALL of the stimulus money received for the 1st and 2nd stimulus for yourself, your spouse and your children.

Or----are you confused and are you really asking about the advance child tax credit payments that begin in July?   There will be a portal for non-filers---but it is not ready just yet.

There will be monthly payments going out beginning in July 2021, with some of the CTC still left as a refundable credit on your 2021 tax return next year.

Add A dependent on my stimulus check

I amended my tax return 2020. I added my mother as dependent on my return. The amend was accepted. Am I supposed to received addition $1400 since i added a dependent?

Add A dependent on my stimulus check

If you don't get the 3rd 1,400 for her it will be reconciled and included on your 2021 return next year.

Click on the Personal Info section of the TurboTax 2021 desktop edition and add him as a dependent.

Add A dependent on my stimulus check

  • I added a dependent he is 46 and he recieved his stimulus for the third one. However I added him this year because I take care of him and he lives with me. When i put in for my stimulus info it says I'm eligible for 2800 but i recieved my 1400 for the third stimulus. But not for him so do I put in 2800 because he recieved one. I added him this years taxes. On my letter it says I got 1400 not 2800 . What do I put in that space . I dont want my return to get rejected

Where asked if you received $2,800 you select No and enter the amount you did receive, $1,400.  You are eligible to receive the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit for the dependent on your 2021 tax return. Even if the dependent has already the 3rd stimulus payment.

I filled out my TurboTax worksheet incoreectly.  I did receive a stimuls check in 2021 and want to enter it in Trbo Tax.

Add A dependent on my stimulus check

Where do i enter the amount of the stimulus check I received in 2021.  I am using Turbo Tax and cannot find where to enter the amount of $1400 received in March 2021

To get to the stimulus questions in TurboTax at any time, you can search for stimulus or recovery rebate credit then hit ENTER and there should be a Jump to link

If you are trying to trigger it,

Click on Other Tax Situations at top

Click on Let's get started

Answer some questions then Continue

Then click on Let's keep going

Next screen is for the Third Stimulus, if you qualify

If you did not get prompted to enter your stimulus information, that means you either:

  1. Filed as a dependent being claimed on another tax return, or
  2. have an AGI too high to claim the recovery rebate
