Your return is sent to the IRS the same day you complete and file it. It normally takes a week to ten days to get your refund, but it can take up to three weeks.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

Why havent I received an email from turbotax saying my returns have been submitted?
If you are using the online version, the screen will congratulate you for submitting your return. As long as you pressed, "transmit my returns now" and it it said "you did it," then it has been submitted. You will get an email telling you that your tax returns have either been accepted or rejected.
I have submitted my tax return 2 times this year the 1st time it took 72 hours to get a rejection and now it's been almost 48 hours and still no approval. The IRS also still doesn't have my tax forms... Why hasn't my forms been submitted?
Pending means your e-filed return is on its way and the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet. Please see What does pending mean? for more detailed information.
